This 1990's home was in major need of an exterior update, so update we did. Rotting wood on builder-grade windows and particle board-like siding had been a constant issue for the homeowners for years already. We stripped off all their rotted siding and removed their wildly inefficient windows.
We then installed the all-but-bulletproof LP SmartSide lap siding along with Integrity from Marvin fiberglass windows. Now this home is beautiful, but just as importantly, more comfortable than ever and will require next to no maintenance over the coming decades.
Opening up the kitchen allowed more natural light to enter the area, and you better believe our client is popping-open this pair of windows every breezy Spring and Fall opportunity she gets.
Can lights were installed at counter depth to further increase lighting, especially at night. But it's the perfect combination of natural and artificial lighting that makes this Johnson County kitchen such a happy one (well, that and the huge candy jars).
Look carefully at the top transoms of the windows in this photo. Do you see how they actually follow the pitch angle of the ceiling? Is that not cool, or what?
Seeking to let in the maximum amount of daylight, we turned to Marvin Windows for the exterior remodeling components. The result - basically every hobby baker's dream come true: a private, fully-functional, sun-kissed kitchen.
As a baker, our client wanted to duplicate the functionality and flexibility of a professional baking environment where everything could be rolled about as needed for optimal use and cleaning.
Can you guess why our client ended up going with grids on this little guy? Where a picture-postcard view is available, grid windows may not be the best option, as they tend to draw attention away from the view while interrupting the flow between interior and exterior spaces.
In this case, however, there's a giant TREE right outside that window, so a picture-postcard view opportunity, there is not.
Grid windows are perfect for adding instant vintage charm to the look of your home. Their distinct look can add character to even an otherwise bleak (or just super-duper-leafy) view.
Our client's home exterior renovation was designed to give her home a complete exterior makeover.
The scope of work included new Marvin windows, new fiber-cement siding, three new garage doors and a new front porch addition complete with a state of the art Mahogany entry door, offering an elegant entrance into the newly re-designed home. All Windows and Doors included Low E, Argon Gas throughout. We actually won a big award for this one, too.
Make that TWO.
Two skylights were cut into the roof of this sleek, modern designed master bath to allow more natural light into the space, and to increase ceiling height in front of the vanities.
Since the skylights took up the wall and ceiling behind the vanities, lighted mirrors were installed to allow task lighting for getting ready at any time of day.
Want to know what it feels like to be hugged by sunshine in a controlled climate environment? Just imagine standing in the middle of this room, right about where that little round chair sits, first thing in the morning.
It's blissful. And it's ALL about those Marvins.
